SOBA Network | Privacy

1. What exactly is the SOBA Network?

SOBA (Self Owned Biometric Authentication) is the world’s first and only Zero Knowledge Self Verification System. It allows you to validate your identity for various services—like entering an event or taking a test—without ever giving your raw biometric data to an external company or central database. We verify your “humanhood” while ensuring you remain the sole owner of your personal information.

2. How is this different from other face-scanning services?

Most traditional systems store your “Biohash” on their own servers, meaning they control and possess your biometric details. SOBA Network flips this model:

  • Decentralized: We use a network of MPC nodes so no single entity has your data.
  • User-Owned: You retain full control and ownership of your biohash.
  • Privacy-First: We do not ask for government IDs, passport copies, or utility bills.

3. What are some real-world ways I can use SOBA?

The network is designed for any situation where you need to prove you are “you” without compromising privacy. Common uses include:

  • Secure Access: Keyless entry into buildings or VIP backstage areas.
  • Integrity: Verifying that the person taking an online test is the actual registered student.
  • Anti-Scalping: Linking a digital ticket to your face scan to prevent unauthorized transfers or scams.
  • Account Recovery: Reclaiming a hacked account by proving ownership through a self-owned scan.

4. Do I need special equipment to use it?

No. Unlike other systems that require expensive proprietary hardware, SOBA is designed to work with the devices you already own, such as your smartphone camera.

5. Does SOBA Network keep a picture of my face?

No. Your device uses your camera to create a “Biometric Hash” (a long string of numbers). As soon as that math is done, the photo is deleted. We never see your photo, and it never touches our servers.

6. What is “MPC” and why is it safer?

MPC stands for Multi-Party Computation. Imagine taking your biometric hash, breaking it into multiple puzzle pieces, and hiding each piece in a separate, high-security vault . To use your hash, you need a “threshold” of those vaults to talk to each other. If a hacker breaks into one or two of the vaults, they only find a useless piece of a puzzle. They can never “see” your face or your full identity.

7. What happens if the system makes a mistake?

Biometric technology is very accurate, but not perfect. Factors like very poor lighting or significant facial injuries can occasionally cause a “False Rejection”. If this happens, you may need to retry the capture in better conditions. Our terms limit our liability for these technical hiccups, as they are a known part of biometric science.

8. What if I lose my Private Key?

This is the most important part: Because SOBA Network is decentralized and non-custodial, we do not have a “Master Key”. If you lose your Private Key, we cannot “reset” your biometrics or put the pieces back together for you. Please back up your key securely

SOBA Network | Security

1. What happens if the SOBA Network is hacked?

In traditional systems, a hack often means your biometric data is leaked. With SOBA, your biohash is protected by a decentralized MPC (Multi-Party Computation) node network. Because the data is “secret-shared” across multiple nodes, a hacker would need to breach the majority of the network simultaneously to gain any useful information, rather than just one central server.

2. Can someone steal my face scan from your servers?

No, because we never possess it. SOBA Network is designed so that the raw biometric data never touches an external system. We only store fragments of a “Biohash” that is under your exclusive ownership and control. Even during a system-wide incident, your actual biometric identity remains safe on your own device and within your encrypted shares.

3. How does “Zero Knowledge” protect me during a security incident?

Zero Knowledge means the network can confirm you are “you” without actually “knowing” or seeing your biometric data. Since the system computes on encrypted data without ever revealing the underlying information, there is no raw data for a hacker to find or steal.

4. Is the technology “future-proof” against advanced hacking?

Yes. SOBA Network employs a customized quantum-proof MPC cryptographic protocol. This level of security is the same standard used to protect the world’s most sensitive information, such as digital passports and private healthcare data.

5. Can I still recover my account if it is hacked?

Yes. One of the unique benefits of self-owned biometrics is that you can verify your ownership through a new face scan to recover your account, even if your login credentials have been compromised by a third-party hack.

6. Can SOBA Network see my biometrics if they wanted to?

No. Because of our “Zero-Knowledge” design, the nodes only perform math on encrypted fragments. Furthermore, the system requires your Private Key stored in your wallet to trigger any verification. Without your key, the fragments are just “digital noise”.
